Car Accident Whiplash Treatment

We specialize in the treatment of Whiplash and Pain due to Car Accidents and Personal Injuries.

Injuries to the neck caused by the sudden movement of the head, backwards and forward or sideways are commonly referred to as whiplash injuries. Whiplash generally occurs from riding in a car that collides with another object or is struck from behind.

When the head is suddenly jerked back and forth beyond its normal limits, or not given enough time for the adaptation of the ligaments or muscle fibers supporting the spine and head, they can be overstretched or torn.

The soft material making up the disc between the spinal bones can tear or rupture or even bulge into the spinal canal. The vertebrae can be pushed out of normal position, restricting the range of motion. The spinal cord and nerve roots in the neck can get stretched and irritated.

While the car may be damaged only minimally, the occupants can suffer considerable soft tissue injury, .

The resulting instability of the spine and surrounding soft tissue can result in headaches, dizziness, blurred vision, confusion, lethargy, pain in the shoulders, arms and hands, restriction of the ability to turn and bend the head from side to side, and low back problems. As the body attempts to adapt to the trauma, the symptoms may not appear for weeks or even months later.

How we can help

The therapeutic approach Dr. Tali Pariser takes on these types of injuries is to use specific chiropractic adjustment to help return spinal function. After a detailed history and exam, Dr. Tali will recommend a series of visits to help restore proper motion and position of spinal bones. If treated early enough, inflammation can be reduced and scar tissue be minimized.
